ChatGPT
The most-used AI tool among UK consumers for local search (Yext, 2026). For local questions ChatGPT searches the web and shows sources; OpenAI’s OAI-SearchBot crawler collects pages for it.

ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot now answer “who should I call?” with a short list of names. We find out whether you’re on it, in your town, for the jobs you want, then fix the information those tools rely on.
What is AI search?
AI search means asking an AI assistant a question in plain English (“who can fix a tripping consumer unit in Sutton today?”) and getting a written answer that names a few businesses, instead of ten blue links. The assistant builds that answer from what it can find and trust about local firms online.
The most-used AI tool among UK consumers for local search (Yext, 2026). For local questions ChatGPT searches the web and shows sources; OpenAI’s OAI-SearchBot crawler collects pages for it.
The AI summary at the top of Google results, and Google’s conversational search mode. Both draw on Google’s search index and Business Profile information, and link to the pages they used.
Google’s AI assistant, built into Android phones and Google apps. The second most-used AI tool for UK local search in Yext’s 2026 study. Draws on Google Search and Maps information.
An “answer engine” that searches the web in real time and cites its sources. Clear, crawlable pages with specific facts tend to be what it quotes.
Microsoft’s assistant, built into Windows, Edge and Bing and powered by Bing’s index. One of the three most-used AI tools for local search in Yext’s UK study, so your Bing Places listing matters too.
Your website, your Google Business Profile (and Bing Places), your reviews and the directories that mention you. Clear, consistent, specific information is what gets repeated. That’s what we check and fix.
Yext figures come from its 2026 Consumer Search Behaviours study, UK sample of 600 consumers. Google’s own guidance says there are no special tricks for its AI features: the same fundamentals that help you in Google Search are what help you here (Google Search Central).
Why electricians get skipped
It’s rarely about the quality of your work. It’s about how little an AI tool can confidently say about you. These are the most common gaps.
EICRs, EV chargers, rewires and fault-finding squeezed into one paragraph. An AI tool asked “EV charger installer in Bromley” can’t find a page that clearly says you do that, there.
“Greater London and surrounding areas” doesn’t tell anyone you cover Croydon, Sutton and Purley. If the towns aren’t named on your site and profile, you won’t be matched to them.
Wrong primary category, no services listed, no service areas, old hours, no photos. Google’s AI features and Gemini lean heavily on this data.
AI answers often say “well-reviewed”. A handful of reviews from 2022 doesn’t back that up. In BrightLocal’s 2026 survey, 74% of consumers said they only care about reviews from the last three months (US sample).
An old mobile number on Yell, a previous trading name on Checkatrade, a different address on Facebook. Inconsistent name, address and phone details make a business look less certain, to people and machines.
Some hosting and security settings block AI crawlers by default. Others hide key facts in images or scripts. If a tool can’t read your page, it can’t quote it.
What we check
Every £95 Check covers all eight, plus the real AI answers for your town. Each finding comes with a plain-English fix and who should do it: us, you, or nobody (if it isn’t worth it).
10–15 questions your customers really ask, in your main town, asked more than once in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot.
The profile behind Google Maps, the local results and much of what Google’s AI features say about you.
Reviews are social proof for customers and a trust signal AI answers repeat (“highly rated”, “quick to respond”).
We compare your details across your website, Google, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Facebook and the main UK trade directories.
Hidden labels that tell search engines “this is an Electrician, here are its services, areas, hours and contact details”. It must match what’s visible on the page.
Electrician / LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage, BreadcrumbListAI tools quote pages that state facts clearly. We look at whether yours does.
AI answers often cite directories and review sites, not just your website.
We check your robots.txt, hosting and security settings so search and AI crawlers aren’t accidentally blocked, and that key facts are in readable text.

The process
The same way you’d approach a fault: measure first, fix what the readings tell you, then prove it’s fixed.
Send your business name, website, main town and main services. We ask 2–3 real customer questions in ChatGPT and Google and tell you who got named, whether you did, and one fix you can do yourself.
10–15 questions across four AI tools, each asked more than once and recorded with the date and location. Plus the full eight-point audit. Delivered as a web page and PDF you can read in ten minutes.
Every finding ranked by likely impact and effort, with what we’d do, what you could do yourself, and what isn’t worth doing. No upsell pressure: plenty of people do the fixes themselves.
We do the work: Google Business Profile tidy-up, up to five website improvements (FAQs, service and area wording, LocalBusiness schema), a review-request link and QR card, and a listings clean-up list. You approve every change.
We ask the same questions again and send honest before-and-after notes: what changed, what didn’t, and what to do next.

The Fix needs a Check first, so we know what to fix. Website improvements need edit access to your site (most builders, like Wix, WordPress and Squarespace, are fine), or we send you the exact changes. On a SparkyWeb Managed or Growth website, a monthly AI visibility re-check is included. See all prices.
The 30-day re-check
AI answers move around, and changes take time to be picked up. So 30 days after the Fix we ask the same questions, in the same tools and town, and show you the difference side by side.
Google Business Profile edits can show up within days. Website changes depend on when search engines next crawl your pages, which Google says can take anywhere from several days to several months. Thirty days is long enough for most profile and on-page changes to be picked up, and short enough to course-correct.
We will never claim a change caused something we can’t show. If nothing moved, we’ll say so.

ChatGPT (including its search feature), Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. The free mini-check covers ChatGPT and Google; the £95 Check covers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, and we note Gemini and AI Mode where relevant.
Because AI answers aren’t fixed. The same question can produce a different shortlist an hour later, on a different device or in a different town. Asking more than once tells us whether you’re named reliably, occasionally or never, which is far more useful than a single screenshot.
No. Google says you don’t need new machine-readable files, AI text files or special structured data to appear in its AI features. An llms.txt file is a harmless, optional proposal (we have one), but it won’t fix a thin website or an incomplete Google Business Profile. We focus on the things that demonstrably feed AI answers.
Some changes, like Google Business Profile edits, can be picked up within days. Website changes depend on how quickly search engines re-crawl your pages, which can take from days to a few months. That’s why the Fix includes a re-check 30 days later, and monthly plans include a re-check every month.
No, and we wouldn’t try. We can’t control what AI tools say. We can make sure the information about your business is the clearest, most complete and most consistent in your area, which is what gives you the best chance of being named.
Never. Fake reviews are banned under the UK’s Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 and break Google’s policies. We help you ask real customers for reviews, the right way.
